WELCOME TO KOMBI LIFESTYLE!
Our journey began when we purchased our very first VW Kombi van (1975 T2 VW Kombi Baywindow) in August this year! My husband had taught himself how to restore and rebuild a Series 111 Land Rover, and once this was finished we were ready for a new project. And what a project it was, and still is!
An iconic vehicle such as the Kombi that receives so many comments and smiles – was the best purchase ever! I remember daydreaming about travelling in one when I was at school. That classic image of a Kombi on the road (as seen in a myriad of magazines) that induces feel-good feelings of calm, peace, and a picture of the perfect escape – is heightened when you actually see this vehicle on the road, it just makes you smile! The Kombi for many people, seems to be a way of life, a culture, and one in which its people are peaceful, fun-loving exploring travellers. The “Kombi experience” or “lifestyle” we wanted in our life!
HELPING OTHERS FIND THAT KOMBI LIFESTYLE
We want to be able to help others find that perfect escape, and create that Kombi experience, whether it’s a weekend away in a hire van, packing up and travelling around the country, or just being a part of the Kombi culture, we can help you create that experience. There are now so many avenues that help people take to the road, and with style. Or help you dream about it anyway!
We want to be able to make your travelling experience easier (one you can either roughly or thoroughly plan) and to help you find the latest products that make travelling fun. We have included information on places as we travel them, at the moment in a Series 111 Land Rover. We are recording our restorations on our Kombi here on our website, and counting down the weeks until we can take it on the road, legally, so stay tuned!
With my husband’s mechanical skills in setting us up with a reliable hard-working Kombi and my skills as a travel writer, (although perhaps I should be called Kombi writer, as I’m exploring a country I know best, my own, Australia) I have created and will continue to write articles and reviews on destinations, festivals – the perfect Kombi places, camping and VW Kombi products. I’ve currently been writing for The Weekender Travel – with a few articles published, this is one of my favourites – the St Albans Folk Festival – Family Friendly Days Out. And if you’re unable to travel, we’ll help immerse you in everything Kombi and camping! 🙂
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
Shelley and Ian
