The Down Under Outdoors – make the perfect picnic blanket, aptly named, it’s designed in Australia for the toughest terrain. And is rated 5 stars by Amazon. For Australian residents

Premium Large Waterproof, Windproof, Quilted Fleece Stadium Blanket, Machine Washable, Camping, Picnic & Outdoor, Beach, Dog, 210 x 140 cm’s (red/grey)

If you’ve decided not to take chairs and a table camping – you’ve probably decided on the hassle-free option – the picnic blanket! And you’ll want one that is just as comfortable as a chair if not more comfortable. We’ve found with the Down Under Outdoors picnic blanket, that the fleece lining gives it that luxury feel – the one that makes you feel just that little bit spoilt! Cleverly – they’ve also managed to make this blanket lightweight too. Packed in an easy stuff sack with a handle – it can be taken anywhere, and carried by anyone!

Being weatherproof on one side – this makes the picnic blanket suitable for any surface and weather. If you’re caught in unexpected rain, you can pick it up and put it over the top of you and you’re protected from the storm, while keeping warm from the fleece lining that’s on the other side. The durable weatherproof material is suitable for most ground surfaces, such as the damp grass, dirt, sand or concrete. While picnickers will usually look for the perfect grassy picnic spot – sometimes it’s not always possible, and it’s nice to know you can picnic anywhere with the Down Under Outdoors picnic blanket.

Also when used at home, or in a campervan, it can be used for a variety of purposes. Some of which include a blanket to protect furniture – from messy little fingers, or the family pet.  I’ve used it when my husband has wandered in covered in grease after working on another motor engine – and thrown it on furniture before he sits down. The furniture, saved!

And when it becomes grubby – just throw it in the wash! And if you have children it will get grubby – as little ones love the fleece lining. The Down Under Outdoors picnic blanket makes life easier! Not to mention if you’re out enjoying a lovely picnic and the weather turns and becomes cold, all you have to do is wrap part of the blanket around you to keep warm, it works a treat.

And it also has a nifty zip pocket. I’ve managed to put a pocket-sized packet of tissues, small notepad and pen, and my mobile phone in the pocket (not that I recommend using mobile phones while picnicking – just nice to know it’s there on occasions). You can fill the pocket up with any small items.

It is the most practical picnic blanket I’ve seen so far. The only downfall for me was the dark colour of the black fleece lining. However, with a variety of picnic utensils and a couple of colourful cushions – it brightened things up! And during warm weather – I turned the fleece lining down – and sat on the weatherproof material, it is cooler and a nice bright blue colour too!

It’s rated five stars and is value for money, at just only $39.99! It’s worth a try! Especially if you’re trying to make life that little bit easier.

Let us know if you’ve ever tried Down Under Outdoors Picnic Blanket yourself! Or if you have any comments or questions, we’ll be happy to hear from you!

    Hi Shelley

Finding a good quality picnic blanket can sometimes become time consuming, because they either have one of the things that you are looking for a couple but missing one thing.

But here you have found a couple that have bonus points in my opinion and that is a easy carry handle and being waterproof, along with being comfortable and machine washable.

I am so glad that I have found your website and will be sharing this site with my friends and family.

    Many thanks

    Jennifer

I started laughing out loud when I read you used it to cover the couch before your husband sat down. lol. I love that you can wash it in the washing machine, too! That’s super convenient. It also has a great price tag being under 40 dollars! Thanks for the review:) I’ll have to invest in one soon!

Oh my goodness, I really like this travel picnic blanket idea.  How many times do you get out in the woods or even on your deck and want to sit and you put an ordinary blanket down and shortly there after you begin to feel the dampness come through.  Thank you for sharing this very practical blanket.  I will surly look to have one in my truck for those damp days of picnicing or hiking out and about.

Hey Shelley, great job with your post and I love the product; I don’t go on many picnics, but if I did then I’d look to your post for advice and the perfect product. I noticed that you said Down Under in your title, are you from Australia or was that something that tied into the title? Also, I have to say that your depiction of the item is great because who doesn’t love a weatherproof item. I’m going to bookmark that for the future, I know someone else who could use it as well. Great job!

Yes, you are correct, I am from Australia! I do love the title – it’s actually the name of the company – Down Under Outdoors. And I thought it was appropriate for an Aussie like me to review this product! That’s exciting, bookmark away – yes pass the word onto your friends too! Thank you!

This blanket sounds like a great deal. One of the reasons my family doesn’t like picnics is because of the weather. It’s pretty much rains here all year round. There have been times where we have gotten caught in the rain. I feel this blanket may save our food and us from getting wet. Thanks for the great write up.

This looks like a fantastic idea. I like that it is fleecy on one side and waterproof on the other. The pocket is a great idea as well, a good place to put keys and things if you go to the beach and don’t want to carry a lot of other stuff. The carry bag is a great idea also, so it doesn’t take up much space.

I do a lot of picnics with the kids, so this looks like a must have for summer. Thanks for a great post.

what a versatile product this is, I can understand why it has got 5 stars.

It’s a good idea that the fleece lining can keep you warm And the waterproof side keeps you dry if your caught in a downpour while on a day out.

It’s also ideal on windy days if your attending an outdoor event especially a sporting event when your exposed to the elements.

    I really like this product.

I haven’t tried it at a sporting event yet – but your comment has made me think of the many times I have been watching the local soccer games – and it’s usually been so cold. I will definitely take it along to the next sporting event. Glad you liked the product, Darren!
